"Where Young Artists Rise: The Transformative Power of Heath Art’s Summer Program"

Diane Heath just got back home from a Detroit Tigers Game at Comerica Park in Detroit. The Tigers who were on a five game winning streak, just lost to the Texas Rangers. It reminded her of some things she might say to her high school art students, when things get tough while painting. “The only way to success in your artwork, is to push through the difficult moments, where one might feel like they’re failing “, says Diane Heath, “and sure enough, those that persist, will ultimately triumph, with a strong portfolio piece”.

This has become a constant in the Heath Art world, where art students are constantly exceeding the highest of expectations, and receiving BIG payoffs. Heath Art is the name of Diane Heath’s exceptional pre-college to adult art programs, offered year round, currently at the Moose Tree Studio, Lake Orion, Michigan.

In its twenty-first year of providing professional art programs and development, along with portfolio and career consulting, Diane Heath’s HEATH ART, is making noise, causing a stir, and raising eyebrows.

The 24-25 school year, has been no exception, with her students receiving top awards in the National scholastic art competition. In addition, individual students have received top monetary awards including: Adi Vernagus, $1500 for the Art Leaders Gallery, Lorena Zondag, $1000 for the Joan Brace scholarship, Madison Radnick, $1000, for the Bill Neale award, and Natalie Black, $750, for the Bill Neale award.

Currently Diane has several students attending major art colleges, including the College for Creative Studies. All of these students received significant scholarships, with the top scholarships earning in excess of $100,000. Diane’s student’s ability to consistently merit top scholarships is unrivaled, by a single art educator in Michigan.

Diane’s tireless efforts as an arts advocate for her students led to the inception and creation of a two-week pre college portfolio art program called “HEATH ART SUMMER ART INTENSIVE”.  Celebrating its 21st year, this summer’s program is sure to be a success, and not to be missed.

“Anatomy Guru brings skeletons out of the closet (and into the sketchbook)”

Anatomy guru Eugene Clark has taken many skeletons out of the closet, but none more significant, than the one he will explore this September 4th, 2025.  He and his students, will embark on a one year artistic anatomy journey, mastering both the skeleton and major muscles of the human figure, creating their own anatomy sketchbook, and, 15” standing figure sculpture, at the Moose Tree Studio, in Lake Orion, Michigan.

The artistic anatomy course taught by Eugene Clark Artist, is offered through Heath Art, in its 21st year of presenting professional art courses. It is a culmination of Clark’s 35 year teaching career, with affiliations including the College for Creative Studies and Oakland University, among others. “This one year artistic anatomy professional certificate course, will be taught similar to my college course, for a fraction of the cost”, says Eugene Clark, “and the course is certified by NAAS, National Artistic Anatomy Society, giving students the opportunity to earn a professional certificate.”

Eugene Clark began his quest to uncover human anatomy in his artwork, as a student at the College for Creative Studies in the early 80’s, studying with famed anatomist Russell Keeter. “Russell’s approach was exciting, while challenging, and opened my mind to a world, that artist’s like Leonardo Da Vinci, dedicated a lifetime to”, says Clark.

This intrigue has fueled Clark’s interest in artistic anatomy, carving a path to teaching thousands of students, passing down the valuable information bestowed upon him. “This is really about sharing what I’ve learned from Keeter, to as many artists who would like to learn”, says Clark. He gives a nod to other anatomists in the lineage of the artistic anatomy tradition including Robert Beverly Hale, who taught Keeter, to George Bridgeman, who taught Hale.

Artistic Anatomy 1 year professional certificate program, begins September 4, 2025, 6:00pm - 8:30pm, Thursday, Moose Tree Studio, 3191 W Clarkston Road, Lake Orion, Mi. Visit: www.heathart.com for more information or to register.

NO BONES ABOUT IT! Something artistic is happening in Lake Orion

Eugene Clark, anatomy instructor, teaching artistic anatomy in Lake Orion Mi

The skeletons are out of the closet! Articulated skeletons, typically found in a science classroom, have surfaced in Lake Orion, Mi, at Moose Tree Studios, in preparation for the highly anticipated, Artistic Anatomy 1 year Professional Certificate Program. This course is designed for artists of all levels, ages High School to Adult.

“This is an unprecedented artistic anatomy course unlike any in the Midwest “, says Diane Heath, Director, of Heath Art, who is hosting the class in the Moose Tree Studio, an affiliate of Orion Art Center.

“The unique aspect of this course”, said Eugene Clark, veteran anatomist and instructor of the course, “ is that we cover artistic anatomy in both 2D and 3D, incorporating drawing and sculpture”.  The course cycle of completion is one year. Students may join the class at any point in the year, and then, simply continue into the next cycle, until they’ve experienced every class.

“We are excited to be the first to offer a professional certificate, certified by NAAS, National Artistic Anatomy Society”, says Diane Heath. Heath Art offers Artistic Anatomy Drawing & Sculpture, as a certificate course, offering students a professional certificate of completion at the end of the course. Best for Professionals looking to boost their creative résumé and LinkedIn profile. Perfect for young professionals who would like to amp up and add to their current resume.  Great for Teens, who want to supplement their high school transcripts with invaluable enrichment experience and credentials.

“Being certified by NAAS, the National Artistic Anatomy Society, is a game changer for us”, says Eugene Clark, “giving prospective students a valuable professional certificate, at a fraction of the cost of a similar college course”.  However, most colleges that may offer artistic anatomy, usually include the instruction in a limited capacity, as part of a life drawing course. Most art colleges and universities are not offering a dedicated artistic anatomy course, especially one that incorporates a sculpture component.

The Fall 2025, Artistic Anatomy 1 year Professional Certificate Program, begins 9/4/25, and will regularly meet on Thursday, 6:00pm - 8:30pm, Moose Tree Studios, 3191 W Clarkston Rd., Lake Orion, MI  48362
